Best Skincare Ritual for Hydrated, Glowing Skin this Winter 2020

It’s not a secret that your skin changes with the seasons. That being said, your skincare routine must change too!

Depending on your geographic location, most people directly face harsh winds and frigid temperatures in the wintertime, and your skin takes the biggest hit. Holistic-beauty expert and founder of Amareta®, Claire gives us her cold-season ritual and the 4-1-1 on skincare ingredients you can’t live without when the weather cools off.

The Skin Barrier.

“The essential skin moisture barrier is made up of fatty acids and amino acids which help to protect your skin from the environment, and keep it looking fresh and youthful.”

states Claire, when asked how and why skin drastically changes with the seasons.

“You have to continuously and ritualistically feed your skin the right ingredients, especially in the Winter. Luckily, it’s not complicated once you have a good routine in place.”

Essentially, healthy winter-skin is best achieved by nourishing and keeping your skin barrier strong and protected. Managing stress and implementing a routine skincare ritual will help you to ease your mind and keep your skin happy this coming Winter 2020.

Cleanse & Detox

We’re all familiar with the terms “cleanse” and “detox”, but luckily, you don’t need to do anything incredibly intense to achieve amazing results in your skin, and in your body.

When we’re approaching skincare from a holistic or inside, out point of view, we must always address skin issues from the body first, before taking a look at topical remedies.

AM Blemish-Beating Beetroot Juice:

With a bright-red color to match the mood of the season, Beetroot Juice is one of the most powerful detox solutions for your skin and body.

Juice 12-16 oz. of fresh beetroot 1-2 hours before breakfast. If you prefer a sweeter flavour, try adding some fresh-cut pineapple or oranges, which will further increase the Vitamin C content.

Fresh beetroot juice, drank on an empty stomach will sweep through your body, flushing out toxins and old waste. Additionally, drinking beetroot in the Winter helps to purify the blood, reviving your glow if you typpically suffer with anemia or skin dullness.

Beetroot also helps to expand your blood vessels, supplying the body with all-natural energy, making beetroot juice an amazing alternative to acidic stimulants such as coffee.

Chilly Morning Deep-Pore Detox:

  • Use a fingertip-sized amount of Petal Soft Cleansing Balm, applying to the face in upwards and outwards motions to softly exfoliate and enhance blood circulation in the skin. This technique also helps to stimulate lymphatic drainage, and diminish morning puffiness.
  • Dampen a facial cloth in warm water, heating the towel in a microwave-safe dish for 20-30 seconds. The towel should be warm to touch, but certainly not scalding.
  • Gently apply the towel to your face, holding it in place for 30 seconds, or up to 10 minutes, depending on the time that you have.
  • For slower mornings, follow your hot-towel steam with Earth Mother Detoxifying Charcoal Mask, with all-natural Activated Charcoal and Spearmint Oil to draw toxins and impurities from the skin.

Don’t Forget Your Lymph Nodes:

The Lymphatic System is directly tied to your immune system, which needs tons of love and support during the Winter months.

The Lymphatic System is an extensive system of ‘nodes’ and other organs that work together to detoxify the body, filtering bacteria, viruses, cancer cells, and other unwanted substances from the body. One of the largest and most susceptible to toxicity, the Lymphatic System is crucial to maintaining good health and clear skin. It’s essential to keep the Lymphatic System healthy in the Wintertime especially, and one easy way to do so is by incorporating self facial massage.

Use Tender Care Soothing Oil to massage and stimulate lymph nodes in the neck, chest and lower abdomen for a loving full-body detox. You will also notice less puffiness in the face and in the body after 10-15 minutes of this massage.

The neck is one area of the body that is first to display signs of aging. But all too often, it is one of the main areas to be neglected. During the Fall and Winter, many people choose to wear protective outerwear (scarves, turtlenecks, etc), or are directly exposed to cold+dry weather. This leaves the neck at a much greater risk for physical and environmental damage.

Skin Lullaby Ultra Moisturizing Cream (Unscented) contains wrinkle-plumping Hyaluronic Acid and firming Shae Butter for a smooth, toned neckline you will love to flaunt regardless of the climate.

No matter where you are in the world, staying on top of your skin through changing seasons helps to keep you and your skin happy and healthy, and is a simple way to develop a calming self-care practice.
